    Default Heater in sump question

I upgraded my sump to a trigger systems 20C from an ancient Amiracle wet/dry drip sump. In any event- I have my heaters in the sump and I placed sponge filter above it. Just wanted to make sure that is safe. Has anyone done the same? My heaters are laying flat on the bottom of my acrylic sump. I had it the same way before and no issues.

    Thanks!

I don't have a sump, but I have a heater in physical contact with my intake sponge "pre-filter" and it hasn't been an issue. Unless things get dry, obviously. But that's a separate problem. As long as water is flowing through, I can't see there being an issue.

I have the Trigger System Crystal Sump 30 for my tank but don't have any heaters in it.

I have heaters in all my sumps. 300w even though the temp probe isn’t in the sump I still connect it to the inkbird.

Yeah I have a 300 and 2 150s- redundancy and so no one gets overworked. is it safe to have them in physical contact with filter floss? I lay them down in my sump. Thanks all

I think that is one of the advantages of a sump- you can hide heaters in them.

You got me thinking. Why not have the probe in the sump?

Well I have larger heaters in the tanks. Just trying to keep the sump water warm.
