    Default F2 Red Batata Thread

I just looked at my Simply profile and it has been over a decade since I have created a thread. Unreal. Time flies. For those of you who know me I have been into discus for almost 30 years about have continuously kept discus for at least the last 20 plus. I have kept all different strains but stray mostly towards Non PB and Non Albinos. I have not been overly excited about many projects but Discus Hans changed that within the last week with his Facebook video demonstrating some F2 Red Batatas. It has been the first fish for sale that have made me interested in doing a growth journal, so here it is.....

I am putting the 6 new Red Batatas in a 100 gallon. For context, in the video on this thread, I have 6 Blue Diamonds that were raised in the same tank dimension. Semi-Adults now. Maybe this will be fun........

Francis — funny you should ask. The 6 in the pictures above are F2 Red Batatas. However, tomorrow, I am getting 6 of the F2 Red Batata X Jacarecappa. Tomorrow night, I will have 12 in that tank…. Stay tuned.

So the Jacarecappa is another red-based wild discus. Hans is definitely on to something and Brad, glad you finally got some "not quite" wild fish.

That’s why I asked. Seems you may have got the jacarecappa first. You may want to call and double check.

Very Nice fish. I must ask what is the reason you have two heaters basically on top of each other? I've never seen that approach before.

Here is an updated YouTube video of all 12 in my 100 gallon grow out tank. I have two 300 watt heaters in each of my 100 gallon tanks because one 300 watt heater is insufficient to keep the temperature and I do not like using sumps. In the videos, the size of the tanks can be very easily misperceived. I have three 100 gallons, one 90 gallon and 4 40 gallons all next to each other. It looks small but all in all it is 550 gallons. In the video, the tanks look relatively small but they are actually bigger than they appear. I have all of my heaters on InkBird WIFI controllers. Sorry if the explanation went overboard.
