Brad,... I hate you... but only out of sheer jealousy :P
I loooove seeing a group of same strain discus with a mixture of lightly, semi, and fully striated juries grow and develop. Bad *** group

How old are these fish. I may have read it wrong but you say you already have a pair and they laid eggs.
Is this normal for these fish?

Jay — When I received the fish in January 5, 2023 they were about 3.5 inches which equates to approximately a 3 months old discus plus or minus.
Yes, there is a pair that has formed and a female has already laid a set of eggs. Not terribly unusually. But I would prefer they focus on growing and eating as opposed to spawning at this time. There will be plenty of time for that in the future. I usually do not like to breed and discus that are less than a year old. I’d prefer to wait until they are 18 - 24 months.

Wow yours look beautiful 🤩
I just took a trip out to Hans on Friday from Long Island City Queens and would say it was worth the trip. I picked up a group of 6 of the same fish and must say they are beautiful. Mine are about 4.5 inches. I’ll be posting more as they settle in.196A0FF6-5DFE-4B64-8337-403EFA0D2277.jpg68173575-BCCA-4B43-8EE6-E7804782FBD6.jpg

Well, I have not done a great job on the log.... But here is the 4 month video.
I lost 2 to a whirling disease. No signs of illness. Both just whirled and whirled and I lost them within 24-48 hours of symptoms. Otherwise they have been very healthy and I am happy with their growth, color and shape. Fun project.
