Mocking Bird Wingflashes

These are another favorite song bird of mine ..songs here There was a time when these were caught and kept as pets in the 1700s to early 1900's here in the USA, thankfully they are not now as it affected their population very badly. They are numerous now, but numbers are declined about 20%in the last 50 years. They are an interesting bird to watch. as they run around in open areas, they stop and flash their white wing patches.. in the fall I have seen dozens together doing this flashing..makes you wonder what they are saying to each other!

My beloved Cedar Waxwings have finally made their yearly appearance this morning. They're working on holly tree number one.
Mama Bear
That's good news, Liz! It got real cold up here and even Texas had ice. I suppose that got them all moving. Have had quite a few dark-eyed junco at the sunflower seeds.
Glad you are getting to see your favorite bird!
Nice photos Al. What about your current or former discus? Any tips for capturing your discus at their finest? My phone does an ok job but I have a SLR and I’m not sure the best way to capture angles/light?
Awesome pictures Al! I love the mockingbird! Thomas Jefferson kept one “as a pet” and appreciated their singing repertoire. Sad fact is now some “sing” car alarm songs…….Urban wildlife, coming to a neighborhood near you.
Thanks Mike. I can dig up some discus pics... Im sure I have a few.
