I keep my water at 85F. The fish are about 6 mts. old.
    Is this OK?

85 is fine but I keep all of mine at 82. It's not really necessary to go above 85, although they may eat more due to increased metabolism and your electric company will love you!

I've been keeping mine at 85 for the past year. I don't know if it's good or bad, but they seem to like that warm vs 82. Whenever I've lowered it before it seemed to effect them. But it seems like there's always one non-eater for me. So I have been thinking about going back down to 82 now that everyone's been eating and seems healthy for an extended period of time.

I keep the temperature for young fry to around 3 inches around 86 and for larger Discus around 82.

I play the electric company game because of the high cost by cutting off the heaters at a certain when the electric is at a peak price.

I recently went looking for temperatures for a biotope tank I have in the works. This was interesting (to me)
The Average water temperature for Rio Negro (near Barcelos) on February 14th over the last 10 years is 26.57° C (79.83° F), with a low temperature of 25.61° C (78.1° F) and a high of 27.16° C (80.89° F). One the web site you can see historical highs lows and averages for every month, not just February (Summer)

    Hey Steve,
Theres a book you may like if you don't already have it.. Its by Hans J.Mayland. "Adventures with Discus" . What I like about it is theres alot of specific water chemistry and details given from various areas. Its nice too because it also talks about other species and habitat.I found it an enjoyable read.
