Very cool! This is the next best thing to having someone do your changes for you! I didn't even know wifi strips existed.
I need a WC system, 5 gallon buckets stink.

    Good afternoon,
This picture is of our Boxer crab, aka pom-pom crab (Lybia tessellata) in our reef tank.
I rarely see this guy and in this picture we can't see his pom-poms
because he probably doesn't have any anemones.

From the web: "Boxer crabs feed sea anemones in exchange for defense
from danger — serving as a prominent example of symbiosis in the animal
kingdom. They reach about an inch in width. They are known as ‘pom-pom’ or
boxers crabs due to their unique presentation of sea anemones,
which live attached to the crab’s claws and are often
wielded similarly to ‘pom poms’ or boxing gloves."

Speaking of Boxers, we have two in our home as well as 2 other dogs. Barry on the left and Rocky on the right.

We are just getting back into Discus after a thirty year hiatus. We bought four 55 gal tanks on Black Friday and I am just now setting them up. Things are much more expensive than they were thirty years ago and I am thirty years older so things don't get done as fast as they used to be done.

This is a picture of our 20 gallon all-in-one reef tank. There's a lot more going
on in here than meets the eye. Hard to see detail.
Recently lost a flame scallop... not surprising, they are very
hard to keep and rarely last more than 4 - 6 months in a
home tank... something Nick didn't know until after purchase.

Todays picture shows one of the tanks on the stand with the drain fitting installed. I will cover the silver tape with some black tape later today.DSCF2180.jpg

My last entries as this is a real stretch and doesn't look very much like a tank at all unless you really squint and view this as an integrated whole. My floor joists are 16 inch gapped and 2 x 12 x 16 feet with bridging and some blocking. Somehow I decided that 2 AUW 1700 lb tanks sitting on the same 4 joists on either side of the room would be a good idea. I know I found that data somewhere. Well when I filled only 1 of the two tanks I turned the floor into a trampoline, albeit a poor one. But it certainly did like to bounce about 1/8 inch when someone over 250 bounced up and down. Did not try jumping. So sistered in an additional 5 Joists and bill block in 2 rows spanning about 4 joists. Unfortunately the HVAC system interferes with complete bridging so that is why there were two joists that had double sisters. Will see if that works with both tanks full.

Here is my 75 Gal. discus tank. Four adult Flachens from Hans many years ago, and 12 young Liz Streithorst discus I got a few months ago as quarters. Just put the young in with the old last night. All is well in there and plan to feed 4-5 times per day, the 4 adults will be getting fat I think.

Here I'm feeding Al's freeze dried black worm cubes. They love this - can't get enough.
I have several other foods I rotate through and this is one of their favorites.

The picture today shows one of the drain valves as well as the insulated back and end of one of the new 55s.

Gary, I know that you have a long history with Discus. It's great to see you starting back again. Like I told Greg in another thread, once you are bitten by the bug it stays with you.

More like a history a long time ago. It will be good to have Discus again.

Wanted to share one of my newer projects. All of my discus are doing well, but I got a few tanks setup in the mean time. This is my 29 gallon blackwater tank. It's a "biotope" of the Rio Uaupes river. I've got a breeding trio of apistogramma elizabethae and 16x tucano tetras. 20230224_192045.jpg
