I did something similar earlier in the week, but the poor Discus were deprived in my case. I made my heart mix last week and realized after it was done and in the freezer, that I'd forgotten to add the shrimp to the mix. Friday I had a lovely meal of roast tail on shrimp with garlic butter and a squeeze of lemon juice. So wonderful a dinner that I can't wait to have it again. Luckily, the Discus didn't seem to miss the shrimp.

I went to the kid's house today to help her clip her mini-horse Squirt. Mini-horse grow a thick coat all the time. When I arrived and we put Squirt in the cross-ties I ask Diana where his sweet spots were. Turns out he loves to be rubbed all over. My hands and nails were super dirty after the clipping but we had two happy people and one happy mini

I was jealous of all the good things I was making for my fish so I pulled a ribeye out of the freezer.

Your daughter has a lovely barn. What kind of hay do you feed down there? It looks like Bermuda. That's what horse people feed down here.

Back when I first started grooming, a lady at the clinic I worked for had a herd of mini's she needed to be clipped for shows. Even I could see that these were not show-quality horses. She had a choice between one really good mini or a herd of 8 for the same amount of money. She went with quantity over quality.

The horses had already been washed and dried, and they were all behaved well, but doing 8, one after the other, was quite a job. She had 2 employees there and neither was worth his salt. The barn wasn't clean and tidy, and not didn't come close to your daughter's.

Friday my dear friend and veterinarian came to put my old mare, Charlotte down. Everything went beautifully, but I can't talk about it yet. Losing an old friend is hard.

Thank you. I gave her a good life. I need to text the farrier and let him know that she is gone.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know my visits were short ones, but I never saw her...

Ah bugger Liz. So sad for your loss, but glad the process was “beautiful” as you say. All the best sis!

Liz again, hugs on the lose of Charlotte.

I will pass on your comments to my daughter regarding her barn. She sort of designed her barn after mine but left the roof area open. She has three stalls and a tack room. One of the stalls is used for hay storage. We have coastal (Bermuda), Timothy and Alfalfa plus T&A. Squirt is for sure not a quality horse (note his back) but he is well suited as a companion horse for her riding horse Spite.

I saw his back, but he wasn't purchased as a show horse, was he? When I groomed the mini's those little horses were new and hot and sold for a bundle. My neighbor had some mini's of similar conformation and by the time she had hers, the market had tanked. When the time came, she was forced to give her mini's away for free.
