There's always a niche for contrarians, never more so than in today's day and age.
Some folks are attracted to them like magnets.
Not to mention those who are always on the lookout for justification of "less" work.

This guy is telling some folks what they "want" to hear. Listen to the fish, they tell the truth

I have to admit, a long time ago before I knew anything about water quality, I had a 55g with gravel substrate and a UG filter. I never did water changes and the tank seemed very healthy, and I had a single Amazon Sword that took up 2/3rds of the tank and a root system that spanned the entire tank. But, I had angels and other dithers, not discus. There maybe some merit in his thinking for the every day hobbyist with inexpensive fish, but not for discus keepers. They are unique and require minimal bacteria and low nitrates.

From time to time I see people bragging about how they've never changed water for discus and they are healthy and growing well. Then they show a picture and they are runted footballs with big eyes and ragged fins.

If hobbyists want to avoid a little work, then discus are not for them...

There are a lot of people on U-tube claiming to be fish-keeping gurus. I truly follow all the info put out on SD over the last 12 yrs and have healthy fish. I do 50% WC without hesitation. Good luck not doing the WC's.....

I must have been and not realized it, but all is good now, I think.LOL
BTW, your fish are doing great. When I put in my hand to press a pc. of fdbw to the glass they literally
bite my fingers in their feeding frenzy.
    Nasty little buggers.

This is actually a dangerous and misleading post - especially for novice fish keepers who look for reasons to not perform water changes.
I decided to listen to the video on my late night flight home.

This guy seems to not only enjoy but holds himself as a wise old sage. While you cannot judge a book by its cover, he’s nothing more than a conspiracy theorist who wants his audience to think he has the key to success.

As a warning, anyone interested in keeping discus, simply ignore him
