Default Recommendation for quiet inline Pump

    Hi all,
Anyone use an in-line pump to move water. I need to use this for one of my tanks..

looking or something like this... Needs to be able to pump up at least 6 feet and garden hose threads would be great though not critical.

Bought it but had to return as it was so loud, My fish wanted to jump out of the tank and my ears are still ringing.

That type pump is very loud. I'm lucky. I can drain by gravity. It's fast with my 1" ID hose.

You may be stuck. I don't guess even the largest Mag Drive or similar would have enough lift. Maybe some smart person will show up with the answer.

That Ehiem Universal 1262 has 12 ft of lift. I don't guess you're draining up a mountain, are you, Al?

Al, you are looking for a transfer pump...

Home Depot, Grainger, and many others sell one that will fit your needs.

I will be buying one to pull the water out of my rain barrels for watering the garden.

Good ones run 150-250.00 that will easily fit your needs.

Now for a less expensive solution get some clear vinyl hose in the length you need at your local hardware store and attach it to this pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J1GMKSG...t_details&th=1

Thanks guys. The way I had this set up with the inline pump allows me to plumb the drain hose up 4 feet and across the room in the rafters.. then down to a drain pipe. 6 feet lift gives me a little cushion for those mfgs that pad their numbers.

By using an inline pump verses a submersible pump I can literally drain and clean the two tanks with the flip of a switch...Its kind of like using a python on steroids. The pump I am returning worked fine.. but was just way too loud for inside the house and small room. I may see if can modify a 12v inline water pump.. I wont get the gallons per min but it will be quiet.

I use a Laguna fountain pump that lifts 11.5 feet. Bought it on sale when a fish shop went out of business. Also bought a smaller one.

Thanks Mervin, I've had Laguna pumps before for my koi pond, they were very good pumps for me.
