Guys, I keep reading the news on Canada's wildfires.How are you guys and our other Canadian members doing? Really a terrible situation going on in Canada.My thoughts and hopes for an end to the fires go out to all of our Canadian members and all of Canada.

Thanks for asking and luckily didn’t affect us, British Columbia wildfire officials say crews are making progress in their efforts to suppress a large forest fire on northern Vancouver Island, though the 160-hectare blaze was still burning out of control Thursday.

Much needed rain today and for a few more days. It's been extremely dry. About 200 fires so far this year and has burned 22,000 hectares and displaced more than 25,000 people. Last year 2022, 152 fires the whole year and burned 3,390 hectares. The southern end of the province has on of the biggest fires in recorded history in Nova Scotia. Some have lost everything. No human lives were last but some animals/pets weren't so lucky. For me I live right in the city; it was just the smoke that burned my nose. The wind direction has changed and rain, so not bad today.

I don't live in Canada. I'm in the southern part of the US but this drastically changing weather is worrisome for me, too. There are woods all around me. If anything catches fire I'll be a goner. We do have a river just 1/4 mile away. It's low right now because there has been no rain for a too long, but my land is all tall hills and deep, deep ravines. My house is on a flat spot up top. I don't think I'll ever have to worry about being flooded out but neither did a lot of people all over the world.

The signs are all around us. I remember 40- 50 years ago when we just thought that a climate change would happen. Now we see it and they say we haven't seen the worst yet. We're literally melting up north and releasing even more methane gas faster than ever.

Wow yesterday in CT the smoke from the Canadian fires was terrible. It was thick enough to turn the sun a dull orange all day ...it was like sunset all day. You can smell the smoke in the air. It reminded me of being on a campground where everyone had a fire going. Going to be the same today. Can't imagine how it is for those where the fires are in Canada.

I was up in Indy the past two days for a concert and all the way up there and when I arrived, I kept thinking "Why is it so hazy/foggy around here?" Didn't think anything of it, thought it was just me not being familiar with a city I don't visit often. Came back home yesterday afternoon, and sure enough, it was foggy/hazy here too, and smelled like smoke when outside. I finally put 2 and 2 together that it was smoke from the wildfires in Canada. Hoping that this gets under control soon for everyone's sake!

It's been raining here the past few days and the fires on the southern shore are still out of control and folks haven't gotten back home yet. There, over 150 structures burned and about 50 were homes. Here in Halifax most have gone home. 150 homes were last and other structures as well. I guess from now on we can say we have two seasons; a cold season and a fire season, so to speak.

Just watched the news, now 60 homes lost so far on the south shore. Some areas still out of control.
