Hi all,
Just wondering about live White worms, (Enchytraeus albidus) maybe? Got that scientific name when I googled white worms for feeding to fish...
A friend, old Discus owner said they were good for discus fish, she use to breed discus. I am wondering if this is ok as I have never heard of them before in the hobby until today when mentioned to me.
I have only heard of FDBW & Beef heart etc..
Thanks!

Also, it seems like there are two different species. Enchytraeus albidus and Enchytraeus buchholzi
Hi Carter
Thanks for this information. Yes, the friend that mentioned this said to start a culture up too, but I was a bit hesitant by the whole thing. I'll have to do some more research on the topic too..

I'm going to start one up as soon as the weather cools down. I hear they don't ship very well, and I'm certain that they will not make it alive in this heat. Also, since I live in the southern US I'll have to find a used wine cooler to culture them in.

Good cheap food, I was feeding the worms with bread and water. Some feed milk and bread, and Wattley said that he fed the worms with yogurt and bread. Temperture not higher than 62.

Liz, you might find a dorm sized refrigerator easier and cheaper than a wine cooler.
Hi Liz, Cliff & Vanman,
Thank you for these thoughts, sounds like white worms are the go, I will look into how to get them here in Australia

Any pictures of what white worms look like? And over time can or do they turn into moths?
Here is what they look like. A little nasty haha. I don't believe they ever turn into moths or anything like that. s-l1600 (8).jpg
They will not turn into moths but when I had them a pest strip help.
