Really nice shots Pat.Thats one I haven't seen in a long time.. we used to see them alot on our birding trips through the middle/south of Florida.. I did have one unexpected one several years back. .. In Canada, Fundy national park area..Saw it roadside and stopped for some pics...no clue what it was doing there... seriously out of its normal range. My pics were no where near as clear as yours.

Hi Jim, Al is right. Get out there and practice, practice. Join a local camera club can be a lot of help. Go out and shoot with people. It's so much fun

Hi Al, it is always a treat to shoot these guys and having a pair with a juvie was a first for me. The parents were not concerned about our presence which as a treat. I think they are use to cars and people walking/driving by them so they allowed us fairly close.

Pat, I found my pics of that wayward caracara... would you mind if I post them ? It was really a unique sighting as this bird literally is at its northern most range in Florida and Texas.... seeing one in Canada on a weeklong vacation still amazes me...what are the odds?

    Thanks Pat!

I have to correct myself a bit.. looking at the image location on my flickr Album I see it was actually
Lake Superior area (Upper Michigan 2016) We had done a trip up through the great lakes and were driving around backroads when I saw a weird bird in a field.. . I scared my wife half to death as I did a 360 in the car without warning... could not believe what I was seeing.
