Hi,
Yes thats something young pairs or individuals can do. They should get it right in time and actually lay eggs. Were both male and female making runs?
Has anyone ever witnessed discus doing “practice runs” on a vertical surface and not had them lay any eggs? I was under the impression that this is one of the things they do right before they are about to spawn, so I was a bit disappointed when this behaviour didn’t lead to any eggs being laid. This is in a new breeding tank that I set up for a pair that that has wigglers in my main tank.

They are just making a dry run, this is very common. Better luck on the next spawn.
Thank you for the insight. I only saw the female making runs, didn’t want to look too long and disturb them.
Puppy love.
At my age, everything is irritating.
