    Default Feeding methodology

Does anyone ever just drop cubes of frozen food directly in the tank?

I usually let them thaw for 5-10 mins in a cup of tank water, then slowly dump it in a little at a time.

I do similar… thaw the cubes on little plastic tray… then remove excess water so it doesn’t get to tank during feeding. Normally right after feeding (2 times a day) just drop new cubes on the tray… so they are ready for next feeding.

    Hi,
Its really not necessary to thaw frozen food when feeding fish. You are adding something frozen to a tank of warm water

Additionally depending on how long you thaw that food you could be losing nutrition that leaches out of the food into the surrounding liquid.

Long ago, before I was deathly allergic to bloodworms and back when I used to feed Beefheart I would always throw chunks of these into the tank frozen. With the beefheart mix it helps minimize the inherent mess from this food.
