Default Hygger submersible 500 watt heater??

    Any one use these here?

    Screenshot_20230923_182921.jpg

I bought one back in July to try and it worked pretty well for the last few months. Today was doing my water changes on my 125g and the water felt very cool. Heaters Thermostat was showing 85 F. Which is the set point. . indicator shows its heating.

I tested the water with my klein laser and its 80F.. double checked with my tds meters probe and it shows 80F

I bumped up the temp set point to 88 to see if if heats more but 5 degrees off on the thermostat is way too much. I was liking this heater alot but not now . Theres no way to calibrate that i can see.

Anyone have good or not so good feedback.on it?

I have a small 100w one for my 20 gallon sick tank. It works fine. I was interested in getting another for my main tank but there were several comments about them not being durable, alone with failure. Tom uses them I think I remember reading. Tom???

I use hygger heaters but not that one. Hygger has many different models. There are some bad reviews on some of them. One of mine did stop working. But I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it works again.

Its weird.. I set the temp to 88.. it heated to 87 when I decided to turn it back down to 85F last night. This morning the tank set point is 85F and the tank temp is 85F.

Everything is fine now but Im stuck wondering what went wrong and why . Very odd.

It must be the differential it probably is set to 1 deg check the manual see what the specs are. You where in the down slope and most likely it would of turned on at a bit below 87 F. Hygger are great heaters but all have their quicks and accuracy and unfortunately the controllers don't have compensation. I switched to hyggers but I added the INKBIRD controllers and they do have compensation. The pic below is the one I use after the INKBIRD controller.

Chuck I dont know. The problem was its been consistently running as set at 85 F then on its own dropped to 80F but the thermostat wrongly displayed the temp as. 85F when it was clearly 80F by multiple checks.

Al the one Chuck put up is the one I use on 3 of my tanks. 2 tanks have the inkbird but my 180 doesn’t. In the 180 I have 2 different hyggers. A 300w is in the sump. These I don’t have on an inkbird. Just wanted to see how the thermostat’s work. So far they’ve been fine. Except the one time the sump one stopped working. It has an alarm and was flashing something. I unplugged for a few minutes and repluged it in and it’s been fine since. Unplugging these heaters seems to reset them.

Funny I just bought a 20g. It came with a hygger heater. It’s got to be 5+yrs old. Thing works great!

I've been running a hygger 800-watt titanium digital heater in my 125-gallon tank since Nov. 2022 without issues. Also I backup this heater up with a 300-watt Bulk Reef Supply 300-watt titanium heater down in the sump with the INKBIRD controller, temp. set @ 83F.

Same setup here except I have a 200w Titanium Finnex in the wet dry.

Not overly concerned by the difference but this heater had been spot on for months

Like Chuck said there is a differential of 2 degrees. Or that can be set to what ever you want. You may have set it higher. May have to find that instruction manual.

Tom thats wrong. Ive read the manual already...

The heater is supposed to have an accuracy of +/- 1 F. ..there is no way change the factory setting in the manual... maybe with an inkbird you can... but not on the heater.
