Default how to tell a male from a female

I know this question has been asked and ans. a million times. But
I have 5, 1 year old fish from Liz. Healthy as hell and showing some interest in each other.
I know that the males dorsel should show an a higher point on the end but how discernible should it be?
Two show a slight indication that they could be male but are they too young t actually be sure?

Just sharing..........In his discus book, one of the chapters, Sexing discus by Hong Kong Discus Breeder Mr.Wayne Ng.

    1.Dorsal and anal fins

Towards the edges of the fins where the tissues begin to turn transparent, the males have more striations and the patterns are better defined than the females.

    2.Gill covers

Males tend to have and more densely patterned gill covers.Their lines and spots are also bolder and more brightly coloured than those of the females and hence give them a fiercer look.

    3.Lips

Males have thicker upper lips than females.

    4.Mouths

Males appear to have wider and larger mouths.

5.Distance between anal fin and tube.

For male discus, the first spines of their anal fins are spaced further apart from their breeding tubes than for females.

    6.Breeding tube (urogenital papillae)

Observing the breeding tubes of the discus from below, you will find that the male breeding tubes are smaller and narrower while the females are thicker and rounder.During spawning ,the male breeding tube become thinner and pointed while the females turn much rounder and reclined.

    7.Stomach

Observing the fish from the front when it is swimming towards you.You will notice that the stomach of the male right behind the pectoral fins and before the breeding tube appears to concave in shape. You will not find this in the female.

With the help of these seven indicators (especially the last three)You should be able to sex even discus that is only three inches wide and you should be correct as much of 80% of the time.
