Got any new pictures?
Beautiful...
Got any new pictures?
Working on it. I'm still trying to work the new camera correctly. Al tells me not to worry. He says, "you got this Liz". But it's hard for me.

Who ever this Al is, I agree 100% with him. It takes time to learn a new camera. .. even a photographer has to spend time learning a new Camera. I'm sure Pat can tell you how much she practiced when she got her new nikon Z bodies. Im pretty sure this Al guy has a computer full of test shots too

Hi Liz, it took me a while and lots of practice. If you remember Paul?, it was him to told me to get out of auto mode and I never went back. Talk to us lady about what you are trying to do or hope of do with your camera.
Pat
Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
How about some pictures of your latest batch of fry?
Great photos Liz.
While .jpg is nice for instant viewing RAW is excellent as .jpg is like a 1000 piece puzzle with 100 pieces missing, and RAW is like a film negative (or in this case a film positive). If you shoot RAW the editing is super easy. If you aren't going to edit then shoot in .jpg.

I'll tell you where things stand right now. All of the pics I was taking were out of focus on my autofocus lens, and all were coming out hazy and over-exposed. I tried following the directions in the manual, but I'm so thick. Pat, you know how I am. I was at a loss and took the camera to the camera store for help. The lady could make the autofocus work, but not the over-exposure problem. I told AL who said that any idiot who knew anything about digital cameras could have fixed it for me but since I was at an impasse I left the camera with her. She was going to clean it, which Al said it did not need and call the Nikon rep for advice on how to fix the overexposure problem. Then Al told me that I couldn't change the ISO with the camera on Auto, but by then it was too late. I'd already left the camera at the store.
In the mean time, I still had my d80 at home with a 50 mm lens. I put the 50 mm on the camera and it flashed FE and nothing would work. I googled for instructions to fix it and did the things it told me to do but it still didn't work. At that point I was too embarrassed to even tell Al. But this morning SUCCESS!!! I found a video that showed me a different way and it did work! I finally was able to do something without asking someone for help.
Here's a pic I took of dad with the 50mm on the d80. Now I can finally enter the contest with photos. This is what I took of dad. I took it to the editing software, hit auto correct which improved the color and contrast of the fish against the backgrould. This is the pic. It's not perfect but it's good enough to satisfy me for now. What do you think? Gary, I'll try for pics of our babies later.

I would be happy if I got pictures that good. I will never be as good as Al or Pat.
Neither will I. What kind of camera do you have, Gary? If you don't have a decent camera I might be able to fix you up with a camera, but you'd have to buy your own lenses.
Mama Bear
Honestly I have nothing I can say other than I wish the d200 worked out for you. Cameras are technical and there is a learning curve .. the more advanced the camera.. the more to learn. I stand by my comments though.. the person at the camera store is an idiot. If they had any experience they should have just been able to pick that camera up and in a minute showed you how to use it..instead they charged you for a cleaning it did not need. Frustrating.

I try to use my wife's D60. Neither of us are very good with it.
Gary your d60 is a good camera.. equivalent to this one..

But its limited because of its age... You can still take great pics but you need to work with off camera flash to get the most of it for fish or add alot of light to the top of the aquarium.
