    Default Roosting Florida Sandhill Cranes

My photo buddy Susan and I visited a local park where the Sandhill Cranes roost. We waited until we had a full setting moon and arrived at 4am in the morning. It was magical!

We don't see these in CT much. I think I've only seen them once as a fly over group of 4. The only reason I even noticed they weren't herons was because cranes fly neck and head out in front..herons and egrets tuck the head close to their body. I have seen them many times in florida though but only as a few here or there..and they are a favorite for me. I'd love to see them in numbers.

Great shots Pat.. thanks for sharing!

Thanks Al, they are one of my favorite birds also and I am super happy that Florida has it's own population of them. They do stop in the yard every now and again. You always know they are out there as they talk to each other when others cranes fly over. They sounds like dinosaurs in my book lol.
