Default Should I get this fish?

    Should I acquire this fish?
Does it meet the criteria for a discus with desirable form?
Kindly comment and share your view.

    Thank you!

If the price is reasonable its a nice looking discus from the picture. Its hard to judge a fish by a single pic but this fish does look good.

My only concern is the lighting is very weird on the fish so its hard to comment on color. Have you seen the fish in person?

    Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, the red Discus was quickly taken by someone else.
I ended up bringing home this one from the same tank.
While it may not be of show quality, it still looks decent to me.WhatsApp Image 2023-12-06 at 18.49.19.jpg

Both great looking discus. Both look healthy. Only thing is you should have put it in qt before adding it to your tank. The pigeons for color was the better choice. The red may have lost all the red color. May have been treated for that color.

I agree I like the clean pigeon instead as well, but hopefully that fish went straight into a quarantine tank before you decide to add it to other fish.

The first one was very nice! But, I think the color of the fish was enhanced by the lighting (not edited). I use Aqueon Colormax in my florescent fixtures and see this effect quite often in reds and oranges.

Nothing wrong with this presentation but I doubt the fish would retain this exact color on its own.

The one you got is very nice as well!!

I find a lot of the reds in discus are enhanced. Here’s a pair of red tigers I got sept 22E4853999-30A4-4304-A67B-95F65A9034B2.jpg. Great color! The red tiger is stunning in my eyes. Although I haven't encountered a real one here, I've observed a few pure white tigers instead.
Are these tiger discus less common or harder to find?

No they are common enough. Those are from Forrest through Ping.

    Hi all,

I happened upon this colorful pet discus for my modest collection some time ago.

I just purchased this cute discus today. It's a juvenile fish, but I'm uncertain about the specific type of spotted discus it is. Can someone please provide guidance? Thank you very much.

Just a word of advice you should quarantine any new discus for at least 2 months before adding to an established tank. If not you could very easily wipe out the existing tank.

I have always liked the tiger discus, those red tigers are very nice. Would like to put them in my tank.
