Hi all figured I’d start a journal. Someplace I can put up whatever is going on in my fish room. Going to start with a video of my tanks and go from there .

    Nice video, Tom!

You might be able to cut down on glare by turning off/blocking all light except the lights in the tanks.

Thanks everybody! Will be adding to this . Jacob it’s the area. Just to small with too many lights. Looking in the rack on the left just reflects off the tanks. If I hang a blanket I can reduce the reflections. Have to set up some hooks!584E780B-4B87-4148-9EA3-19F052F7E072.jpg

Ok carrying on here . This is my 90g. This is my first big tank since 04 when I had a 200g glass tank explode. Flooded the basement. Pretty much stopped me from keeping big tanks. After this I had 2 30g till this 90.F486323B-DE0A-43E9-9D74-23E3AC5D0109.jpg. My wife bought this for me in 17. Knew I’d never get a glass tank again she got an acrylic. So what I have now all started with this tank. All her fault . For a stand I bought this Ethan Allen buffet table.B6232F5B-DA4F-4B45-8763-1E87679FA240.jpg. $75 . Did a little reenforcement and had this.739F863C-09B2-4525-8B24-CDFD62EB3E15.jpg. Added some seachem fluorite and eco-completely useless and had this.0A2C9123-E49F-488E-81A2-FDEDDF799C34.jpg. Being stubborn I killed many plants with this substrate. Kept it in there till at least 19. But the fish always did good. Tanks been great and I’ve had a few different filters. Now it’s got a essophs 125 wet/dry a tidal 110 and a GKM 24w uv. So plenty of filtration.

Some of the fish today are.EBDCA9C3-DB7D-42BF-96FF-0328BB8BD8F0.jpg this feather fin that I got in 12or 13 at about an inch. So cute!! Yep that’s him at about 9” now and 10 yrs old. Next is one of my clown loaches. He’s center of the first pic. He and the other are a year older than the FF. One of the bosemani is also 10-12yrs old and given me close to 100 offspring. Some of the others are this green phantom pleco. 6C2B7512-1A8D-4BA9-A8D0-FF6364EE604B.jpg had it for about a year but it hasn’t grown much. Next is a gold ram from Chuck.3AC7E5AC-D3FE-4944-92DB-FD01CE701369.jpg.FF photo bombing. I’ve got a lot of fish is here. They’re the last Otto and SAE. 3 buenos Aries tetras. About 7 bosemani rainbow fish. A bushy nose pleco. Possibly a blue phantom pleco (havnt seen in months). 2 feather fin acaras EAD71A39-B585-4671-A9F2-F3EB0EE2D424.jpg41699E2A-2AF2-4A87-B6F8-2F5BB7562D7F.jpg thought I bought 2 geos! But these guys are great! And they don’t dig up the substrate or plants. Kind of think that first substrate cursed this tank. Cause all I get get to grow is pearlweed and giant hygro. But they do grow. And the top planter has a bunch of stuff I either bought or found in house.D12651C8-639B-4912-A9C4-FA5E8B3C420E.jpg. So that’s my 90 the start of it all .

New petsmart. Look for their sales. I’ve bought used sea clear too with no problems. Market place has found me most of the used ones.

Tank runs like clockwork. 2 50% water changes weekly. Has a wet/dry system that’s moving around 1000gph F6712541-C6C8-41D5-9460-ACB3F41368A9.jpgand an odyssea 350 with a gkm 24w uv. Plants are anubias giant hygro a few crypts and just added a Val I had growing in another tank. Seems to be doing great .92154F0C-F796-46DA-B9A6-1CCAB5381D85.jpg it’s in the white pot.CBA0EE59-589C-4A97-BEAC-F4A39E069EA4.jpg

Just added my breeding pair into this tank and so far they are looking great. First pic in last group. They are the 2 on the right. Furthest back is a Batik eruption next is a Penang eruption. Both from Chicago. These 2 gave me these 766DA0A86-536A-4A84-B0E1-60E9A97774DA.jpg. Hoping they grow to be as colorful. These 2 came to me at 6”. Discus tend to look small in big tanks . Was expecting these 2 to be giants in the tank. Nice to see they are not. Average at best with some clearly bigger.A340F933-1992-4D23-BD4C-6D4833E5BBFF.jpgCD8A980E-6385-4025-AE4E-F1DFB60DE5DE.jpgCD5BDE61-76EB-4099-8BEA-49F642E76E9C.jpg. Have a school of about 16 rummienose a school of 13 strebia corys,4 gold rams,2 bn plecos an SAE a black phantom tetra and maybe something else. Some cherry shrimp and mts.

Tom, what do you have your driftwood propped up on? Looks like suction cups? That's not a bad idea.

Yes I use suction cups. I alway save the big ones used on the GKM uv blub. They will hold some large pieces of wood. 4586813C-0231-4C9C-891A-9537F0C3CEF4.jpg.

Getting back to my journal. About a month ago I set up this tankCA740713-4A8B-4D42-B435-4CCEB13B6FCA.jpg. My plan is to add my hillstream loaches into it. Still adding stuff. I went to a pet store and bought these gold tetras.6C0C022E-5DA0-4F29-96EB-F264F2B3051F.jpg Nice little fish. The tank is a 40g so I decided to try nano fish. Not many places sell much in nano fish. The place I bought the golds from that was all they had. None of my regular places had any. Ok ember tetras. But that’s it. So went to another place further away called country critters. They had macklata rasboras. A tiny red fish.7952FDB5-305A-41AE-872C-F55B485CEC13.jpg Bought 12 but only got 11. So I’ve got these and the golds and the hillstreams. Also found 4 cpd’s but they’ve all disappeared. Think the shrimp ate them. Oh yeah there’s at least a 100 shrimp also in there. But hey they’re shrimp! No waste load there. Yes I know it needs more fish! Small fish! Go back to cc a week later and they’ve got some new ones in . But these guys ain’t cheap. I get 6 ruby tetras and 6 kubotai rasboras. But of course I add these guys and again I got a total of 11. Either these guys can’t count or they see me coming. None the less nice fish.B08CC9A9-857A-48BF-9AD9-C9F3572A4C75.jpg. Not sure how much more I want to add but I am enjoying it.
