Great! Question for anyone that may know this.Im not a discus show guy and not sure I have seen this before but whats zip tied to the sponges lift tubes?

It is Poly filter tied to the sponge filter.


General maintenance comments:
Poly-Filter turns color when removing medications.

Aqua to Dark Blue: Copper or Copper salts.
Orange: Iron.
Bright Red: Aluminum.
Bright Yellow: Ammonia, Amines or Solvents.

I see.. i thought it was some cycled biofilter material.. I guess the tbought is it will remove ammonia .

I never quite figured out why fish shows dont use box filters with ammochips and floss.. seems these would be cheap and effective for a few days show...plus they are field exchangeable.

I've always wondered the same. Most US shows throw in a brand new sponge filter which does nothing. Might as well just use an airstone.

That's kind of funny. I've seen pictures and I guess I assumed that they were somehow supplying cycled sponges.
