Default Are the two discus fishes an item?

    Hi all,

These two discus fish were recently purchased from different sources a few days ago. Surprisingly, they have become quite close in just two days. As a novice in the Discus world, what steps should I take next?

    Thank you.

Congratulations on a possible pair. That shimmy you see is good sign. So what to do next? Nothing yet. For now I would suggest letting them spawn in that tank. It will strengthen their bond. After that you can move them to their own tank. You could move them now but I wouldn't.

You might want to put in a breeding cone so they can get used to spawning on it.

You can use over turned terracotta flower pot for a a cone. You can also use a white pvc pipe. If using the pipe... add a collar to the bottom.

See this thread for an example.

Is this your system Al...would love to learn about your white pvc pipe lay out....have NOT got a drilled top tank (5x2x2) but have a 100litre sump drilled with a bulkhead fitting which goes under my floor in the living room too waste.

Would like to change my holding water sump too a filtered sump ....but with solid pipe this time ....did have a EHEIM THERMO II from Devotedly discus years ago has the green plastic hose.

How do I get the water from the main tank to Sump...

Was also thinking about Marks DD continuous water system....Thoughts.

I am unsure about the precise cause, but there were complications with the courtship of the Blue Rim Red Cover Male and Blue Diamond Female discus. The female discus unexpectedly darkened, and there appeared to be the formation of white slime. Concerned for its well-being, I opted to quarantine the female until its condition improves.
