Is vegemite the same as marmite? I use marmite as a seasoning. It's a great umami booster. I can't imagine caring to have it on a sandwich. I'd be quite good for you, too.

They are similar Liz.. marmite is british.. vegemite is australian... both are yeast byproducts and high in protein and vit.B. its also kind of salty.

.. After trying them both I can honestly say I will stick to peanut butter! I just could not acquire the taste. I can see using it in some dishes though

Very similar Liz. As Al mentioned, more than a little salty though. Great on toast with fresh tomato &/or avocado, no salt needed just little coarse cracked pepper! Definitely an acquired taste. If it spread too thick it will be a very unpleasant experience

Actually, if you take just a little bit on the knife, wipe it off on a paper towel, and then spread the knife over the toast it's even better.

Told my son about it Scott and he decided to make it as a surprise.. of course at 20 he made it his way.. diced not sliced. Still it was tasty!

Glad to hear that you liked it, I usually make this once every couple of months.
