Personally, I would try one type. I think they would look nicer than a mix. Most can handle the warmer water. As a mix they might tend to school together. The lemon tetras will school nice and tight and are very active.
When there are so many different species of tetras today when you choose different species to be kept together with discus in.a large 6 footer aquarium how many numbers of each tetra species would look great as tetras school. Say you choose cardinal tetras, lemon tetras, glow light tetras, black phantom, harlequin, Costa tetras how many of each kind would look great. Say 10 or more for a 6 foot aquarium.

I have a school of 15 rummynose tetras in my 120 gal. They school nicely and don’t over power the discus in the tank.

I second the rummy nose tetra's.
I have found that you need to grow out cardinal tetras and add them to the tank prior to adding the discus. Note this worked one time for me. After this I do not mix discus with other fish.

Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
I killed far more tetras with my water change siphon than my discus ever did. Both rummynose and lemon tetras. I can't say that my discus never picked one off, but I don't think they did, but I think it unlikely. The water change and being fished out of the utility sink in the basement did not go well for them.
I agree with what Pat said about cardinals. I added cardinals after discus and they became very expensive snacks.
If I were to do it over, I think it would be better to have cardinals in before discus for the reasons Pat stated above. My logic is, if they're in the tank before the discus, they are less likely to see them as food i.e. I'm not dropping them into the tank after the discus have established themselves.
Cardinals are my favorite nano fish but if your going to add any fish in I would like the rummy nose since they are bigger than the cardinals.
Jake, thanks for sharing your experience.
That is why you grow the cardinals out before adding discus.

Somewhere I have a pic of one of my discus with a cardinal in its mouth. Agree with Pat if you use cardinals and have adult discus, adult cardinals are safest bet
