If the water is the problem the solution maybe simple filtration..carbon blocks, resins etc. Really depends on the resuts of the testing.


Its the first step here... if the tests come back ok then we move on to other possible causes ofthe fish problems.

Okay thank you for all your help! I have ordered a kit to test for metals primarily and some other substances from an EPA certified water testing lab that I found through my county’s public health website. Once it arrives, I send a sample of my water back in the kit they provide and then they test it at their lab and send me results. Will take probably a week, maybe more.

For now, my plan is to keep up with water changes/substrate vacuuming/etc, no meds, removing the stressy angel pair—sound ok?
Anything you think I should add to my canister filters or HOBs on the tank? Like a carbon pad? (I haven’t been running carbon in the tank bc I read it can create issues for discus. I don’t run carbon in any of my tanks actually).

Carbon would not hurt at this point and could help. I think if it was me I would also spring for chemipure..
