    Jim,

I'm running a sale on the Brooklyn Bridge, interested?

    J/k but..

I think its a gimmick. Its just a porous hunk of inert material that they say they "innoculate" with bacteria. The idea is the surface area is great so lots of bacteria can grow on it... problem is they tell you to drop it the tank. Porous media needs water flowing through it to carry oxygen and ammonia products for the bacteria to feed on. I can't imagine there much going on inside that "Rock" aerobically...maybe anaerobic bacteria inside might grow.

Perhaps if that rock was placed in a HOB or sump it would work well as a biofilter substrate but doubt it will be more effective than sintered glass noodles would be.

Never tried it though so this is just based on m snakeskin oil sensors going off.

Impressed how the sales pitch twists facts to make it sound unique, not only that but the price is outrageous.
These days we have a lot of snake oil salesmen out there.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but have you heard from a DrMartin discus? He is posting quite a bit in FB. I am not sure if he is legit.
