    Default Orlando Wetlands

I was able to get out with my photo buddy Susan and we went to Orlando Wetlands. There is lots of nesting activity starting with the larger herons, egrets, spoonies and wood storks. It was a gorgeous morning with the high cloud cover photographers love. Hope you enjoy

Pat those are great shots! On the open Bill one, Thats pretty impressive quality for a 400 mm lens with 2 X converter=800 mm. Kept alot of details. That combination with the z9 works very well! Did you have to crop much?

Thank you Al and I love, love the 400mm with the 2.0 TC. It's pretty light too. The TC for the mirrorless lens seems to work really well. Generally much better then for the DSLRs. I really didn't crop too much. Here's the spoonie will the open bill. I made the water level and cropped in a bit and that is about it.

    Thank you Matt

If you wish to make a trip to Florida in mid-April I could take you to the Stick Marsh. The spoonies are nest building and the in flight opportunities are endless.

Wow!! Incredible Pat. Are spoonies pink because of what they eat? Like Flamingos?

Thank you Danny. I googled it and found

"Spoonbills eat shrimp, shrimp eat algae, and the algae make their own red and yellow pigments, called carotenoids. Some scientists believe that the pink coloration that roseate spoonbills acquire as they mature is due to their diet of carotenoid-rich organisms like shrimp. The more they eat, the pinker they get."

    so yes lol.

One more of the spoonies. I was shooting with a slower shutter speed then normal for BIF and note the tip of the wing. The feathers are rather translucence which I thought was rather cool.
