Default New Design on ATI Hydrosponge

ATI hydrosponges have a newly designed base.. .. they no longer have the base with the metal in it or the neck above. They combined them and filled with something else. I have some on order at Jehmco but am a little leery .. anyone have these new ones yet.. thoughts?

I didnt like how bases would crack over time..maybe this fixes that?

The bases were the worst for those... I had multiple start to crack and rust almost immediately. Personally, Al, I stay away from that brand now. I go the aquarium co-op sponges and they are doing fine.

They have always been the best sponge filters but they are so much more expensive than the black ones with the shorter base that I use those now. I've done fine with them.

I would like a slightly finer Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter. They're about all I use, but I do wish they caught more stuff. It's great they don't every plug up, but that means they leave a lot in suspension. Squeezing a sponge out occasionally isn't that big of an issue.

Liz I hear you there on price. I bought a bunch of those black ones too.. but Im just not happy with them .. if they werent so low to the tank it wouldnt be bad... but they also just dont draw in as much stuff to the sponge.. I do wish ATI were cheaper...its just a hunk of plastic.

Jacob can you use the replacement hydro 5 sponges on them. I do that alot with the cheap black ones...its my compromise.

This is the only time I've wished for the stupid "like" button. BTW, I still have several of those old Angels Plus sponges that are glued to a slate. They must be a million years old, bur work well enough for me, too. As long as it works, they're good enough for me. I guess I'm not as particular as folks with money to burn.

Believe it or not.. I have never bought from them.. Jehmco is where I get pretty much what I need or Kens.

Fortunately the sponges are interchangeable. Ken's fish is actually cheaper by a couple dollars than Jehmco and shipping is free over $40.

I bought some new sponges within the past month but they are to old style. Also, I'm not too sure I like the Pro series. The holes are larger so when you remove it for cleaning, it dumps a bunch of crap into the tank that the old style retains.

Brian I don't like the pro ati either for the same reason.

I just get the regular fine pore ones.
