Truly a case of having to grow into their feet!
Sandhill cranes are such a neat bird. I can watch them for hours whenever I see them anywhere. I used to watch them all day when I camped at Myakka River State Park in FL.
Great pics Pat!

These Sandhill colts are about two weeks old and we found them at Orlando Wetlands.

Thanks Al and yes, a really cool bird with so many interesting movements. Like dancing and when one starts it attracts all the other cranes...

Very nice pictures, those action shots are really cool.
Awesome pictures, Pat! Sandhills are relatively rare up here in Iowa, but we do seem to have a decent population that hangs around in the spring. They can really get loud!
Thanks Jacob, there are two population of sandhill cranes in the US that I know of. The sandhill population in Florida does not migrate and is smaller then the other sandhill population which does migrate thru-out the US. The larger sandhills even winter in Florida and mix with the Florida population. Are they loud, you betcha, Tom and I think we have dinosaurs when we hear them around the house.
