Default No water changes for the week.

I have had one really bad string of luck. The lattest is I have little to no water for the week.. My well tank just went.. got a pin hole in the bladder and is shot. I have water but its only based in my wells pressure...The real problem is since the service tech came out here and tried pressurizing it I have nasty bits of metal and crude in my water.

I could possibly replace the tank myself but the tank is still under warranty.. its only 4 years old. If I wait until wednesday the pump people will exchange the tank. Tank is free ..I just need to pay for parts and labor. Parts should be reusable.

Its just really frustrating.. I had a bunch of tanks and fish I was moving around and I have Fry and fish on eggs..

I can't risk burning out my well pump though and the water is so crudy I will just go in vacation mode.. no water changes until after Wed.....limited to no feeding. What a royal pain.

At least we have a little water.. drinking water is going through ro water filter.

No water changes?! Next thing you'll be making a post about how you're going with a 6" deep dirted tank and just topping off.

You are right. When it rains, it pours. Thank goodness you know the exact thing to do. I'm so sorry. Makes me glad my husband replaced our well, which was often a problem we were not knowledgeable to correct, with community water. This was years ago before I had fish. Thank God. Our well water contained so much iron, that filters clogged up in no time so we just decided to live with it. When we hooked up to community water, the first thing I noticed was that white laundry came out of the washer white instead of a murky yellow.

Good luck. I know it will be a great relief to be able to care for your fish properly.

Organic farmer is delivering a few loads this afternoon so I can convert all my bare bottom tanks.

You don't have city water where you live? I thought most of the Northeast was on it. How large is the tank? Is it underground?

CT for a small state still has alot of rural areas.. my town is mostly on wells.

Tank is inside.its not a large tank... just your typical water tank.... 32 gallons.Screenshot_20240309_191149.jpg

Wel x troll are good tanks however this particular model has had alot of issues with bladders that are defective..

The crude from the pressure tests has been rinsed out but we really cant run the well much.. without the pressurized tank its real hard on on the pump.

Al, you have to wait until Wed of next week? If you have good neighbors ask if they are willing to run a hose to your place and attach to a outside faucet. We have done that in the past and it actually works pretty good. Guessing you will need decent temps for that however.

You can turn off the electric element in your water heater, if it is electric, or turn the gas off if it is gas and drain out half to three fourths of the water. Instant pressure tank. Just don't turn on a hot water facet or you will let the air out.

Its just a tank with a pressure bladder Gary. The water is heated by our heating oil fired boiler. Without a functioning bladder the tank doesnt stay pressurized it just fills to the top with water.

Pat we have to go until this wednesday. Our well has good water pressure so we do get some water but the well pump has to run and run. If It burns out, Im out thousands to replace..

For us right now best action is to use as little water as we can.. quick shower.. bathroom etc.. otherwise I will be needing a go fund me.
