    Problem

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

    Last week I noticed lumps on the right side of 1 discus. they seem to be getting larger

    Sometimes it will hide in a corner, but not for very long. Generally active and eating normally. no signs of bullying

    8. What type/brand water conditioner do you use? Do you add it to the tank or aging barrel? How much do you use?

    I use seachem safe and dose the entire tank. i dose at 1/2 tsp

    9. Parameters and water source;

    Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

    - temp _82____

    - ph _7.6____

    - ammonia reading __0__

    - nitrite reading ___0_

    - nitrate reading __5__

    Jim,
    That looks like tumors or some kind of cysts.. its interesting that its only showing on one side from the pics so it could be intramuscular. The fish is looking a little thin from the frontal view. If its tumors theres nothing really to but euthanize it.

    thanks Al. Is it in any pain? ? If not, I think I will let it ride it out until it gets worse.. it still eats and is active in the tank

    Jim I think if its behavior changes, labored breathing, darkening or has trouble swimming, make the call then. For now if its acting ok and eating I dont see the need to rush. Theres always the chance it will turn around.

    A few years back one of my older discus developed a lump like this on one side, age 7. Like Al, I assumed it was a tumor and not much I could do about it but monitor him and see if it compromised his life too greatly. He went on for two more years and never seemed to suffer.
