    Default spawning wild pair

Here are some pictures of my wild male heckel and wild female rio madeira spawning. The eggs turned white in two days and were eaten by the pair. Currently my conductivity is 250ms, but I am going to start using r/o water for these fish and see if I can get a hatch. I plan on lowering the conductivity down to about 100ms.

Very nice, Jerry! And you're doing all this in FL tap water? Maybe I need to come visit you when the collecting season is in full swing, and you can help me locate some heckels? I know they spring up all over Miami (or they used to) when they were being imported. I'd like some to eventually mix with my tank-raised heckel crosses...

    Jerry,

Very nice!! The Heckel looks to be really nice sized, is he? Good luck with getting some fry from this pair, they should be really nice.

How long have they been tankmates? Did you do anything out of the ordinary before they spawned?

    Very Nice

Some of you might remember the pctures from a few months ago. When these two paired off in the 115 with 6 other discus in the tank. The above pictures were from the first time they bred in the 29 with a cone. I have ordered parts from Randal to upgrade my r/o, they should arrive next week.

The cone is about 8 inches tall and the heckel is about 7 inches with the tail. The madeira is almost the same size. Current conditions are peat filtered tap water. Ph 5.0, gh 3, kh 2, temp 85 and conductivity 250 ms with a 15 percent water change almost every day. Jeff what are the conditions you used with your alenquers?

Mike I keep all my discus under the same conditions.
Dennis thanks for the tip about the ms at 50. John your first on the list. Ryan let me know when your coming, your heckel crosses look great. There are two different wholesalers that allow visitors, plus we can visit Gabe at Wattley's.

I never got a hatch from the few times they bred. They are still in there own 29 gallon tank. They have not bred in over a month. but I still have my fingers crossed for them.
