Wilds are usually named after the place they are caught.
    ie Manacapuru, Tefe, Alenquer, Nhamunda.
Heckels are usually just called Heckel. One Heckel I am currently prowling for is the Nhamunda Blue face Heckel.

I know that the naming is based after where they come from. But, the reds versus the blues, I can't tell that much of a difference.

    Awesome tanks u got there gj555 !!!

U inspire me to build one like yours ;D
Few questions, what kind of filtration do u use for your tank ?? what about your maintenance ??
Do you still need to regularly/daily change your tankwater with new freshwater ?? Or you just simply clean up your filter without changing/adding any freshwater ?? Do you have problem with algae appear on your glasstank ?

Thanks a lot !! once again, nice tank!!

The tank is 66 gallons which is relatively small for a planted discus tank, but it works for me.

I use two filters on the tank. 1 Eheim 2213 cannister and 1 Eheim 2011 cannister filter. I don't clean the filters very often (but I probably should do so more). What I do is put prefilter sponges on the intakes of the two filters to catch the larger debris. I rinse these prefilter sponges every few days to keep them clear.

I do not change the water in my tank daily. My water change schedule is 1x/week or sometimes 2x/week at 50-60% each time. That said, my discus are not in the active growing phase. IMO, adult discus in a planted tank do not need new water everyday. If I threw a bunch of 2 inch discus in the tank I would probably change the water daily. Algae appears on the glass but I wipe it down with each water change. I use paper towel to wipe down the sides of the tank. Since I added a bushy nose pleco, the amount of algae is less. But, it never gets infested or out of control.

Hope that helps. Send me and instant message if you want more information.
