    Default Breeding cones

    just wondering if anyone else feels the same as i do.
    I have the terracotta,hollow ones.
    IMO = bad design.
    what else can you use...... some of you guys are brilliant at coming up with all these great tips,tricks etc.

    i just find them a pain. i scoop up tanks after each feed and i have to lift the cones to get muck thats gone under them. thats ok if no eggs on it. otherwise,if there's eggs,mum & dad get really "P'd" off.

    Pascale, Get yourself a piece of PVC pipe whatever size you want 2-3 inch by 8-12 inch long. Obtain two suction cups like the ones used on your heaters and drill two holes in the PVC pipe and attach the suction cups to the pipe. You can then stick the pipe on any wall of the tank you want.

    Clay gardening pots work great as well, just wash them off and throw them in the tank

    or silicone the pipe to a 4"x4" ceramic tile, ime putting the pipe on the glass with suction cups cramps some pairs "style"

    garden pots would be same as cones..... and also,you cant bleach them to use them in other tanks..
    i made up 3 of these. after use,i throw them in bleach- ready for next batch....
    now all i have to do is wait for fishies to start their tango..LOL

    What I do is have a pvc pipe and glue a ceramic tile as well, but then I use the ugliest gravel that I have, sometimes pink or sometimes purple. I fill the pvc pipe to the top and then top it off with aquarium seal and I try to flatten it or make the silicone into a pyramid shape. Works really well for me and acts like a weight. Alot of asian breeders I see use these type of breeding cones.

    I also glue 2 1/2" pvc to tile except I cut a slight angle at the bottom so it's not perfectly verticle and then I fill it with sand and cap it off.

    I've tried black and white and my fish seem to like the black better...

    You can also get grey pvc electrical conduit pipe in the electrical department of any hardware store. I think that the grey blends in pretty well, and is not so stark as the white pvc.
