    Default New tank, old filter.

I am in the process of converting my African Cichlid tank to a Disus aquarium. I currently have a box filter on the side and wondered should I keep the filter uncleaned as it already is cycled or should I tear it down and bleach it before using it on a tank theat will someday contain Discus?

PS Yes this is the same guy who is having problems with the 1 pair he already has but what can I say. They fish are "way cool" and I am way to old to use a phrase like that.

    Thanks

    Hi Tin,

For safety and preventive purposes, I'll cleaned the filter down. Why take chances of passing something to your new tank?? Cycling your new tank won't take too long, a month at the most. Also if you do regular WC, you can still keep fishes in your tank while it cycle...ofcourse having said all that, don't go and overload your tank by placing 10 adult Discus in a 50 gallons for example.

    Just my two cents.

    Cheers,

    Chi.
