Thread: grainy white fungus won't go away!

Default grainy white fungus won't go away!

two of my fish have 3-5 tiny white specs of fungus on their tails. i've tried treating it with salt and it won't go away, although it doesn't seem to spread or grow at all. so now i've been treating them with penecilin for 5 days. still nothing. it's not spreading but it's not going away. one of them has a tiny little bump where his body meets his anal fin and about half way down towards the tail. it's also not going away. the fish seem totally oblivious of it. they look and act healthy. the water quality is bang on and my water changes are 40% daily. these are very healthy, happy looking fish and i just want these ugly little specs to go away! what do you recommend when salt and meds fail?

These dots go away on their own. I think they occur on fish that get nipped or picked on. It seems to be the same few fish everytime. Overstocking your tank makes it worse.
