OK, well I just bought the 1/6 HP 1200 GPH pump at a local farm supply store. It is submersible, but is it safe to put in an aquarium? I don't want to add any contaminates (oil, grease, etc.) Do you guys use it to drain, as well as fill?

If the pump you got is for water usage then you will be fine. Be sure to wash it real through first.
