    Default Peat and Activated carbon.

    Suppose i run my tank water through peat and then run it through activated carbon will it affect the ph of water lowered by peat.

    Hi,
    I use to do that. It seemed the carbon removed much of the tanins from the peat. Without carbon the water was brownish, with carbon clear, but the carbon got dirty fast . I think carbon undoes all the good of peat.

    Carbon has been associated with Hole in the head disease.

    Carbon seemed to raise my ph also. (when used by itself, I could not get the ph to lower very easily )

    I think I better not use it rather I’ll control the quantity of peat.
