    Default Rose reds

i have a rose red and was wondering approximately how long before it colors up...it's still mostly brown w/ hints of red on the fins and a little on the body and black bars.

I would pose that question to the peson or place you purchased the Rose Red from. I t may never become solid or show a ton of red. It may show a nice solid reddisd brown color if you are LUCKY.

Usually to get them bright red they are color feed. Try some tetra bits to get it started.

Here is a pic of a Rose Red I got from Cary last August. It should be about 11 months old now. It has colored up considerably in the last few months. The red/brown base color changes depending on mood water conditions. They look redder in person than in most photos. I don't color feed except for a daily feeding of Tetra bits. The more dominant ones have very faint stress bars but the ones lower on the pecking order show prominent bars. I really like the wild look that these guys have but it does take a while to show up.

That is a really nice discus, Pat. Are the white markings a bluish white?

    Thanks Carol,

The markings are a very luminescent blue. I think Beth once described it as almost as if it "glows".
