Medications and Plants - Help
Just acquired 4 juvenile (2-3" wild Blue Faced Heckels and have them in quarantine. Well a fully planted quarantine tank (just could not do this tank as bare bottom???!?!) They have been in there for about 2 weeks. Only one is eating and the others are looking rather thin. Here is the treatment I have put them through so far:
Levamasole HCL - worms
Marycn
Marycide
Tank conditions;
pH - 6.8
kH - 4°
Gh - 2°
Temp - 84°F
Change 75% water 2X week
Been feeding frozen daphnia, white worms, blood worms, and BS
Now what other meds that are plant safe?
What is the best way to get these guys to eat?
I want them to gain a little weight before I stick them in the 75 gal
Check out tanks www.aquacharlotte.com

Paul

Re:Medications and Plants - Help
I've not had any problem using metronidazole nor quick cure (formalin & malachite green mix) in a planted tank.
Had trouble using nitrafurazone though - the vallisneria definitely didn't like that (I think they are copper sensitive plants anyway).
You might want to remove the plants from the quarantine tank, add an airstone, and crank the temperature a little higher. check for hexamita.
