    Default New to discus

Hey guys im new to discus but have kept American cichlids for years. I have a aquareef 400 that i have turned into fresh water, it has a custom sump aswell. Was going to put the smallest layer of sand on the bottom a little bit of driftwood with plants attached, ive been doing alot of research but would like to know how many i could keep in this size tank.

    Cheers

Welcome DFK! Good luck on your journey! Your light years ahead by stopping here first. So lucky you!

Any idea the gallonage of that or can you provide dimensions? General rule is one adult per ten gallons. Then you factor in your water change routine and all the other factors like tank mates substrate and all that and you get an idea of the bioload. What size is the sump
    As well?

That's a good size tank for discus. General rule is 1 adult per 10 gallons. Take into consideration decorations, substrates, etc

Hi OP and welcome to discus and this forum too .
As others have already said , you can easily stock 10 discus in your tank. Your sump water capacity makes condition for putting a few more , but since you are a first timer with discus , its better to stay on the safe side and do not overstock your tank .
