Culturing gammarus shrimp

Does anyone Know a good effective method of culturing
scuds(as they are called) I know a local place where I can catch them but not in large enough numbers to make it worth while.But probably enough to start a culture.
I have tried but not with any sucess.I have read in several books by wattley,degend and others that they are excellent live food so their must be a practical way.

I cultered Gammarus gammarius in a tub like tubbifex fed paper towels,
They bred 2 slow and the filters cloged up regularly.
But the fish that could catch them goobled them with relish.
I fear that they are Not worth the time .
