    Default Grapewood

With all this talk about grapewood I am curious. I have a few grape vines in my yard. Has anyone used vines from their yard? What did you have to do to the vines to be able to use them in your tanks? Since I am on sickleave I am bores out of my mind (although in a considerable amount of pain) and a low cost ;D :funny: aquarium project would be just the thing to keep my mind busy.

That's a good sign that you have energy to spare, don't overdo it though.

Newly cut wood has problems though, it bleeds out a gooey, clear substance (probably sap and cellulose). It may be harmless but it is messy. Grapewood is also very light and needs something to hold it down. You could try boiling it for awhile to take care of both situations, I just don't know how long you would have to boil it though. It is a good looking wood though, I like the twisted look that grapewood has.

    Congratulations on the recovery.
