    Default linear pump info pllz

i'm considering geting a decent pump, and a regenerative/blower is way above my league, so i'm thinking of getting a linear pump to run a few tanks( 12 max).
    I have seen some decent/powerful/quite pumps that aren't linear eg: AV-50 http://www.aquaticsbykr.com/images/pumps/av50.html & http://www.customaquatic.com/customa...ID=WB&catID=ap
but i don't want to be bothered with the whole worn out/busted diaphram issue, i can almost gurrante no ome out here can repair one for this particular pump.

So linear it will be; so many to choose from: sweetwater, whitewater,Alita, medo, ect...
also I thought all linear pumps were piston driven? alot that i have seem on line have diaphrams.. so are the actually 2 types of linear pumps? Which is better ? i've been told that the ones with the diaphram are easier to maintane as it is easy to changing the diaphram, and its good as new, but when the piston ones piston wears out it never runs at max flow(even though it willtake years before that ever happens.

    any advice will be appreciated

Hi Blaze....you gonna get swiped again this weekend I see. I have
lived in South Louisiana all my life and hurricanes are just a part of
    life here as with you.
I bought my pump for Jehmco and have had it about 3.5 years. I have
the LP45 and still can not hear it run. I have had no trouble with it.
Here's the link to all that Jehmco has from little to big.
If you want info more...just call John or Jean at Jehmco, they know
their stuff and are great folks.

ahaaa hurricanes.....hey butch, love ur fishroom
btw this is kinnda funny: read my sig, then read butch's sig

so far i think there are 2 different types 'linear diaphram' and linear piston' right? I still don't know the pros/cons regarding piston/diaphram...

Well so far i'm leaning towards :
    PISTON DRIVEN
    1)Model #LPH26
    26 watts
    .9 CFM @ 2 PSI
    15-25 outlets*
    http://www.jehmco.com/PRODUCTS_/HARD...watt_pump.html

    2) Sweetwater Linear Piston Air Pump SL22
    http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/.../6579/cid/1769

    DIAPHRAGM DRIVEN
1)Dolphin AV-50 Pond/Fish House Air Pump (even though i'm no sure if its a linear) http://www.aquaticsbykr.com/images/pumps/av50.html

2)#DAPMH-15 Diaphragm Air Pump, 15 watts (8 to 15 outlets) from Jehmco (not linear) http://www.jehmco.com/PRODUCTS_/HARD...air_pumps.html

    3) Alita AL-15A 15+ outlets
    http://www.angelsplus.com/cgi-bin/ca...Alita%20AL-15A
    http://www.price1.com/product_info.p...270cc7acb96dc4

    4)Alita Linear Air Pump AL-40 -@ 20 inch: 65,000 cc/min = 2.3 CFM
    @ 40 inch: 55,000 cc/min = 1.9 CFM
    Capacity (estimation only):
    20 gallon aquarium - 60 tanks
    50 gallon aquarium - 40 tanks
    http://www.price1.com/product_info.p...products_id=31

    5)Alita Linear Air Pump AL-6A
Aeration for large aquarium (minimum 300+ gallons), multiple fish tanks or small fish ponds http://www.price1.com/product_info.p...products_id=30

    6) SweetwaterŽ Linear Double Diaphragm air pumps/Whitewater Linear Diaphragm Pumps
    http://www.fishfarmsupply.ca/linear_Piston_air_pump.htm
    http://www.aquacave.com/Whitewater.htm
    http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/.../6299/cid/1792
    http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/...21789/cid/3894

as i haven't even began to build a fishroom, i can't say the amount & size of tanks & filters as yet..and of course the $ factor, so i'm very open to suggestions.

Hi Blaze, I've had Jehmco's linear piston 26w for my 11 tanks for over 2 yrs now & am very happy with it... air thru pvc tubing from front to back of my house. Used a Tripp APS with deep cycle battery so in case of outages, there is no worry, plenty of air...John @ www.jehmco.com fixed me up with this system & it's well worth it, JMO, Dottie

I agree. There are some cheaper pumps, but I think the Jehmco linear piston 26w is great. I have had one for about 6 months. It puts out a ton of air and is nearly inaudable. I asked the Jemco people about it. They stopped keeping parts in stock for this line of pump because they never sell any.
