My lunch today
Hi all,
I had a bowl of shark fin soup and a bowl of bird's nest soup for lunch today. Our Chinese restaurant closed down and they had some left over, so since the Chef and I are tight, he made me up a $100 dollar lunch. They were pretty good, as I've never had either...........bird's nest soup was better. I felt really guilty eating these, as I don't like the way the shark fin is collected and the poor birds never get a chance to have a nest.

Steve,
Birds nest soup? Is that thesoup they make from those birds that regurgitate their food as part of the nest? ;D
and I agree on the finning...I have a hard time accepting practices like that.

I have had both and oh my god. Really good stuff.
Like anything else there are different grades of it. Some of it has gotten to the point where a small bowl can cost up to $300.00.
As for the bird nest it is really sad how many lives are lost due to collecting the stuff. Most of it exist inside of a sea cave where the collector hangs from a bamboo pole in a small canoe type boat in the ocean.
I try not to eat either but sometimes I can't help myself.
