    Default Finally!

Guess what! My PB became my first ever Discus to lay some eggs last night.

They didn’t get fertalised, and she tried laying first on the heater, and then on the side of the glass. So unfortunatly they all fell to the bottom, and were eaten by a couple of others.

So far it isn’t clear if she has a proper mate, but at least it’s a start! I’ll have to buy or make up some sort of spawning cone for her this weekend... Then off to start knitting the little blue and pink wetsuit booties.

Great Bass. the male might be too young yet....but im sure she has one in mind. watch for bowing etc.
guess you wont need that bladder bag disguise after all when you go visit queensland then. you will have your own pairs. right?

it might take them a few times.
an upside down terra cotta flower pot will do. or anything else. my fish have a nice chicken vase to lay on.

    Hi Chris,

Better get the spawning tank ready...won't be long before she finds Mr right and you will be a grandaddy!

    Thanks everyone!

Does terra cotta or clay leach anything? ie. Do I need to soak it for a few days, or just give it a good wash?

The terra cotta ones work well. Just make sure they do not contain ''lead''. some manufactures/third world countires have lead in the pots. Years ago there was a problem with imports from Mexico.

Like Carol mentioed , they do ''aireat'' for awhile.
