Kickin myself in the rear!
Hey all,
Just want to whine a little to folks that understand. In one tank I have a couple Alenquer and few Heckels. One of each have done the slap and wiggle on and off for a few weeks. I started feeding heavy on the bite size red wigglers, cut the stock in the tank and started dropping the pH to see what would happen. Well they started protecting a pvc pipe I added so I am very excited. Then I goofed up the works. I was cutting some PVC for another project and I went to set a small part on top of the 75 they are in not remembering the top was still open from water changes. The PVC fell in and spooked the fish. The Heckel that is part of this promising pair got nailed just right and the edge of the pipe cut a nice chunck out its side. The wound is about 3" long and 1/8" wide. Basically right along the stress bar.I cant tell how deep it is yet but I bet Its lost that lovin feeling regardless. I added salt and raised the temp already. Now Im gonna sit and feel sorry for the fish..................... and myself. :'(
Thanks for listenin (readin)

''OUCH''. been there, done it.
All I can say, if they really love each other they will get back together.
Keep an eye on the wound. Watch for any bacterial/fungus infections.
Discus can be tough and are pretty rezilliant.
Good luck with the lov'n pair1

Re:Kickin myself in the rear!
We've all made mistakes before, so it's time to stop kicking yourself. I agree with adding salt at one or two tablespoons per ten gallons. I see no reason to raise the temperature of the water. I hope for a speedy recovery of your fish.

Sorry to hear Paul...damned hard to deal with those kinds of slipups isn't it? Just remember, we have all done as bad or worse...it is difficult to be human sometimes.

Thanks for the replys.
The wound is looking much better already this morning.
I am going to pull all other fish to give them privacy and see what happens.
I will keep you posted
