I use the mag drive like it very much!

Re:Eheim/Rio/mag Drive/ect... pump comparisons
Which model do you use, and how do you use it? (did you plumb it straight from your storage tank?) thanks!

Re:Eheim/Rio/mag Drive/ect... pump comparisons
I to use mag pumps and like them, I just have hoses on them and throw them in the storage barrel.
We have had a mag 5 in the kio pond for over five years running year round, and it has been plugged up with leaves etc probably thousands of time and it just keeps running.

I have a Mag 950.
These are submersable pumps, just throw them in, hook them up and plug them in.
I like this pump alot, its built like a tank.

But they can be used in-line too right?

Re:Eheim/Rio/mag Drive/ect... pump comparisons
i had problems using my Mag7 in-line. If the impeller cover was not submerged it would stop pumping water - it seemed like there's an air leak. I tried another Mag7 but it did the same thing.

If you are looking for a pump that you will be using externally from your water source I would go with a Little Giant or Iwaki pump. I have both and love them. Very powerful but quiet

I have a Rio 2500. I don't like it. It stalled sometimes if power was interupted.

"Stalled when power was interrupted"
Can you explain?
Most pump do stall when no power! LOL!
I have a Rio 1700 and 2 mag 950! Both are excellant pumps and no complaints with either of them. O! Except one, the mag is easier to fit pipes on compared to the rio. The mag has threads and the rio doesnt!

Re:Eheim/Rio/mag Drive/ect... pump comparisons
I know what he means by "stalled" . If power is lost the pump doesnt prime when the power is restored. You have to remove any plumbing (no head) to get the RIO to prime up again. I have used the Rio and Magdrive. I like the Mags. Built tough. The 950 and up will run great inline. The 7 and under are better submersed.
