Thanks everyone for your really nice comments They really do mean a lot to me.

April, yes your mana discus from me have that red eddy blood in them.

John, the red eddy is a german name for the red alenquer strain developed by Eduard (eddy) Schmidt Focke. I got mine from germany about 12 years ago, and still have some of the decendents i occassionally breed from. One of the best crosses i have done with this strain is with a male royal blue f1 from Manacaparu. A bit of variation in the pattern with this cross, but most are red colored and nice shaped discus.

Congratulations on being recognised Rod. High achievement for an Aussie in a world-class competitive undertaking. Great interview, and stunning fish. I was blown away by the blue turqs and the alenquer. All this talent with only 15 or 20 years experience (well, maybe there's time for me to learn before my kids send me to the twilight home).

Rod was the first international breeder I have purchased from. I spent two years searching. Rod was brought to my attention. We spent over 6 months corresponding; selecting different strains; finally , in september, 2002, I received my discus. The discus did have a harrowing plane ride .. 53 hours to be exact. Bad weather, by the look of the container. All discus arrived alive and healthy.

Today, they are a year old. Big and beautiful. and still growing!!! Some of the most beautiful discus alive.

Future fry ... yes; these are my breeding stock.

Thank you Rod. A very happy friend.

    Smokey
