Looks like a "cut and paste" job.

No, I'm never 100?% sure unless someone confesses. But that is REALLY red. Similar to the fish Limzer had on another aquabid auction. The redness faded away even w/color enhancing foods. Only time will tell to its future owner.
On another note, I think that is representative of what a red diamond should look like.

that is not a red diamond. a red diamond is a spotted strain.
more like a white faced marboro..
hormon feed - not necessarily.

Very true it is color feed and not tetra bits. Nutrarose or stronger is my guess, but probably not hormoned. Hormones are very expensive and a lot of breeders will not buy them. There are still a few who use them and here in the states as well.

First let me say sorry for what im about to say, but are you kidding me, maybe harmones, too expensive to use. cmon asian discus are sold like crazy, have you heard of this little place called malaysia? Of course that fish is harmoned and they dont care about the price of harmones, they get their money back after they sell 5 of those fish, hell in some instances after selling one of them. Money is no matter becouse they will make it all back and then some more.

I e-mailed that guy if that was the actual fish in the auction you were bidding on. I got no reply. Not my idea of how to do business. And that is not a red diamond. Frank 8)

Re:Check out this discus on Aquabid
Hormoned fish typically show a pink redish color at the base of, and into the spines of the pectoral fins.(at the very least) This one doesnt seem to. Or not on my monitor anyways. I would hafta agree with Jeff, if it HAS been color fed, it would be...astaxanthin or something similar....
My first hunch though...the picture has been "doctored"

Yes, I'm aware that a RD is a spotted strain. My point is that a RD should look like that. Sort of like a blue diamond, green diamond, white diamond, etc.

Re:Check out this discus on Aquabid
It's not a very good picture(like I should talk--hahahaha)
I've seen some very nicely colored, VERY RED fish that were most certainly not fed hormones....they were probably color-fed....but then hikari discus pellets have color in them...this fish was probably color fed too...
nice color or intense not-so-nice color doesn't necessarily mean hormones...

Re:Check out this discus on Aquabid
The fish looks like a Super San to me..the color is obviously doctored by photoshop..the guy didn't even know what a red diamond looks like hence the name..sounds logic..blue diamond = Solid blue fish and red diamond must be solid red fish lol but he was wrong. ;D

Re:Check out this discus on Aquabid
It looks like a San X Red melon to me.
I have one from US Discus. It looks similar to that.
But i could be wrong.

Hehe. Don't know don't care. I'm not buying that discus. My only point is stop and think about it. Don't just jump to conclusions without knowing what you are talking about. I stand behind my statement about breeders using hormones. You may believe what you want. There are other methods with long lasting affects that are cheaper.
